Mark Sylvester is Co-Owner & Creative Director, Interrobang Design Collaborative, Inc., a strategic brand development and design studio located in Richmond, VT, which he runs with his wife and partner of over 30 years, Lisa Taft Sylvester. Interrobang provides brand strategy and develops identity, packaging, print and web communications for businesses and organizations. Clients have included TDK Electronics Corp., Switchback Brewing Co., Burton Snowboards, Symbol Technologies, STX Lacrosse, PocketWizard, Autumn Harp, Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibilities, and the We Are Family Foundation and other not-for-profits.
Interrobang has a specific interest in helping start-up businesses launch their brands and aiding established brands evolve to achieve desired growth and success. The studio is located in the barn on the Sylvester's property; a 20-second commute from the back door of their renovated 1790s farmhouse, where they live with their 3 children: Dylan (21), Hannah (18), Nora (14), and chocolate lab, Wally.
Mark earned a BFA in Graphic Design from the Philadelphia College of Art (now UArts), attended the Yale Summer Program in Graphic Design in Brissago, Switzerland, and received his MFA in Design from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Mark has taught design and typography, and lectured on design history, typography and print production at various colleges and universities. The Sylvester’s work has been published in Typography Now: the Next Wave, The Graphic Edge, Radical Graphics/Graphic Radicals, Information Design, Logo Lounge 3, Logo Lounge 6, Logo Lounge Master’s Library Volumes 1, 2, 3 and 4, Design Matters: Packaging, Best of Business Card Design 6 and 8, American Corporate Identity, ID, Print, Emigre, Ray Gun, Graphis, EYE magazines and numerous other publications.
Mark served as a Mentor to threedotdash GTL’s in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
