Mitchell Kriegman
Writer, Director & Producer

A winner of the Director’s Guild Award and four Emmy Awards, writer/director Mitchell Kriegman began his diverse career as a fiction writer and performance artist. His work has been published in The New Yorker, the National Lampoon, Army Man, Glamour and Harper’s Bazaar. In the 1980’s, he joined the team of Saturday Night Live as a filmmaker and writer. Soon after, Kriegman began creating, developing and producing award winning series for Comedy Central, Nick at Nite, Disney Channel and other cable networks.

As a screenwriter he has written original screenplays for Universal, Disney, Columbia Pictures and others, as well as screenplays for the Muppets. As the creator and developer of the classic groundbreaking television series “Clarissa Explains It All” and “Ren and Stimpy”, Mitchell Kriegman has also created the classic “Bear in the Big Blue House” and “Book of Pooh” and the Emmy nominated PBS KIDS series “It’s a Big Big World.” He was the executive head writer and developer of numerous other signature television series including “Rugrats”, “Doug,” and “Life with Derek,” among other properties. There are no less than six series on air that he has created, developed or produced. Kriegman currently teaches televison and digital film production at Stony Brook Southampton's MFA Program.
